Getting here

Savannah Airport website is very helpful, including taxi rates to lots of hotels and other ground transportation.

Hotel accommodations

Visit Savannah's site for finding a place to stay. You can search or browse by location and type of accomodation.

Access Savannah is also good for finding accommodations and things to do.
Thunderbird Inn is a known as a funky, cheaper place to stay on the east edge of downtown Savannah. Easy to walk everywhere but still affordable.
Tips:
- Historic downtown will be the most convenient place to stay and be a tourist. Tons of stuff is within walking distance. However, it is usually the most expensive.
- Mid-town/Southside will probably be cheaper, but you will need a car to get to anything interesting.
- Tybee is a good option for the beach-lovers, but will also require a car.
- I don't recommend the Westside and surrounding towns- too far and difficult to navigate.
- Camping at Skidaway Island State Park is lovely.

Driving and Parking

On-street parking and garages are available downtown. You only need to pay parking meters 8am-5pm Monday through Friday (excluding holidays).

Things to do in the area

Savannah has tons of great museums for all interests. See a partial list here on the Coastal Museums Association (CMA) website. Any of the CMA Museums are great, but here are some recommendations to start:

Connect Savannah is a local newspaper with great listings on events in town.
Our favorite walking tour of Savannah- the Creepy Crawl Pub Tour.
